SELECTION BASIS
Specify the check valve from the line behaviour.
A check valve reacts to the flow in the line. Construction and size should therefore be reviewed against flow rate, pressure loss, orientation and the expected transient conditions.
Flow and orientation
State flow direction, line orientation and normal and minimum flow. Confirm that the selected construction is suitable for the intended installation position.
Dynamic conditions
Identify pump starts, trips, pulsation and other rapid flow changes. Cracking pressure, closure response and surge risk require application review where relevant.
Pressure boundary
Select rating, ends, body material and trim from the complete pressure and temperature conditions, piping specification and document requirements.
